Traveling is an exciting activity but can have risk associated with it when proper precautions are not taken into consideration.  One of these precautions is buying a travel fist aid kit.

There are many pre-packed first aid kits which can be bought from pharmacies and travel stores.  But for those who want to customize their kit because they have special medical needs which might not be covered in the pre-packed first aid kits, it would be advisable to put together their own travel first aid kit by buying the supplies separately.

It is extremely important to know the nature of the travel.  For example, travels such as jungle adventures in Africa may require a more comprehensive supply of medications and other remedies in the kit compared to traveling to Paris or London for sight-seeing.

Some of the most common contents of a travel first aid kit include Plasters (Band Aids), Micropore tape, Paracetamol, Antiseptic Wipes, Stronger painkiller, Antihistamine tablets, Vaseline (for ticks/cracked heels), Scissors, Diarrhoea tablets and travel sickness pills.  It is not necessary to bring all these and there may even be some more things to add.  For those who are light travels, the list can still be stripped down to the barest essentials.

Many of these individual supplies are very easy to acquire.  In fact, most if not all of these can be bought online.  So the next time you travel and you have forgotten to bring a kit, you may want to have the kit delivered to you destination.  Just make sure you calculate the time of arrival so the kit does not arrive only after you are about to leave your destination!
